EU Changes Policy Towards Renewable Energy Projects Due to “Overriding Public Interest”


In an effort to reduce the EU’s dependency on Russian energy, the EU has changed their policy towards renewable energy projects, due to “overriding public interest.”  The new policy will enable faster issuing of permits for alternative energy projects in Europe.  It is part of the wider EU effort to phase out the bloc’s dependency on Russian fossil-fuels by speeding up the diversification of energy supplies, accelerating the rollout of renewable energy and increasing energy efficiency. This will also bring down the price.
