Colombia Announces 19-point Plan To Restart Stalled Renewables


Colombia’s ministry of mines and energy has unveiled a package of 19 measures aimed at unblocking renewable energy projects that have faced delays due to regulatory and procedural hurdles.

The plan includes the issuance of a new decree on the allocation of grid connection points, with a dedicated chapter for special cases such as the upcoming offshore wind round and fully permitted projects awaiting grid access to begin construction,

Other key initiatives include the creation of a national renewable energy project information system, legal review of a resolution regulating geothermal resource permits, and a proposed mechanism for developers to release grid connection points held by inactive projects without paying penalties.
