Germany and Denmark are strengthening their offshore energy partnership, putting the 3-GW hybrid interconnector project Bornholm Energy Island at the core of the intensified co-operation.
The collaboration will focus on cross-border projects in both the North and Baltic Seas that will accelerate the European energy transition, the German energy ministry said on Monday. The aim is to enhance security of supply, facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources such as offshore wind and hydrogen, and unlock synergies in energy generation, consumption, and electricity trading across borders.
