The Dominican Republic’s national energy commission (CNE) opened public consultation to clarify the process for requesting a renewable energy concession.
The regulator aims to provide more specific guidelines for projects that could qualify under renewable energy incentives law 57-07.
The legal framework includes tax breaks on imported equipment, machinery and accessories, and a tax reduction on external financing.
CNE emphasized that its role is “to issue the complementary and timely regulations to achieve its objectives, which regulate each of the activities of the special regime of electricity production from renewable energy sources, giving priority to the energies with the greatest demands for development and investment; as well as to establish, by resolution, the power objectives to be installed for each of the technologies.”
