Greece’s Ministry of Environment and Energy is introducing a legislative measure to support renewable electricity producers by amending the current support scheme.
RES producers that have entered into a Differential Increment Support Contract (SEDP) and are not currently compensated for electricity generated during periods when the system price is zero for more than two consecutive hours will continue to receive operational support for energy produced during hours when the day-ahead market clearing price is zero.
Loss of support will now apply only when negative prices are recorded for more than two consecutive hours.
With this intervention, following consultation with the European Commission, the government aims to provide stronger support for renewable electricity producers. Once approved by Parliament, the measure will apply retroactively from 1 June 2026.
