Poland’s Council of Ministers has adopted an update of the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) that envisages the share of renewables in energy production rising to 51.6-53.2% in 2030 and to 65.6-68.9% in 2040.
According to the more optimistic scenario, the largest contribution to the increase will be made by solar with an installed capacity of about 32.4 GW in 2030 and 43 GW in 2040, followed by onshore wind with around 16.5 GW in 2030 and 28.8 GW in 2040 and offshore wind with 5.9 GW in 2030 and 17.9 GW in 2040. Biogas will play a complementary role with some 0.5 GW in 2030 and 0.6 GW in 2040.
