Experience
Stephan heads Cleantech Law Partners’ European practice group. In the past, Stephan advised major corporations, public authorities, investment and commercial banks on German, European and international environmental law while working for leading international law firms in Frankfurt and New York. Stephan focuses his practice on climate change and the global carbon markets, particularly mitigation and market-based mechanisms.
He has extensive experience in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, Carbon Capture and Storage, Renewables and Forestry. Stephan combines a passion for the issue of climate change with an in-depth knowledge of the corresponding international and European policies and regulations.
In addition, Stephan taught German Constitutional and Administrative Law at Frankfurt University, and has experience with a variety of corporate and capital markets transactions. He currently serves as elected local councilman in Frankfurt and holds political positions in Germany and internationally.
