CLP Attorney Diane Henkels presented results from the Oregon and Washington state legislative sessions at SolWest in John Day, Oregon. The Eastern Oregon Renewable Energies Association (EORenew) presents SolWest Fair annually the last full weekend in July. EORenew was founded in 1998, a nonprofit educational organization whose mission is to empower people to increase their energy efficiency and use of solar, wind, and other renewables. At SolWest Diane noted that in Oregon energy conservation efforts remained strong, especially in comparison to weakened state support for renewable energy in the form of tax credits. She also discussed the regulatory situation in Washington, where the legislature enacted a new law aimed at decreasing the dependency on coal as a source for electrical power.
