Kazakhstan is on the way to meeting ambitious renewable energy goals. Kazakhstan currently has 40 wind power plants generating 684 MW, 51 solar power stations with a capacity of 1,093 MW, 40 hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of 280 MW, and 5 biofuel power plants adding 8 MW more countrywide. Three solar power plants and two wind farms will start operations soon. Additional plans include the development of 19 hydroelectric stations, 23 wind farms, and 7 solar power stations in Kazakhstan by 2025.
