Maine, Massachusetts, and Maryland–aside from being on the east coast and starting with the same letter, are all also holding gubernatorial races this month. All 3 states have been progressive in their approach to clean energy. Depending on who will win the election will determine how each state will proceed towards reaching their clean energy goals. Maryland and Massachusetts already have indicated a willingness to move the state forward with offshore wind energy. While all 3 states have targets to phase out greenhouse gas emissions, Maine will continue to be of interest in this election, as the current governor has supported movement towards clean energy, but her predecessor, who is running against her in the upcoming election, has not.
